Malaysia Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA) began operation at the former headquarters of MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) in Kuala Lumpur in December 2005.

The establishment of this academy is a testament to the commitment of the Malaysian government to combat corruption and to contribute to the international community in the global fight against corruption.

MACA, the first of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region, aims to be a regional hub for anti-corruption capacity building by enhancing the competence and professionalism of anti-corruption practitioners from around the world as well as Malaysian government officials.

Target learners

MACA offers training programs tailored to both local and international participants.

It provides MACC officials with balanced training programs incorporating the latest techniques of investigation, intelligence, corruption prevention and prosecution.

MACA offers courses, workshops and seminars for Malaysian government officials on enhancing integrity, preventing corruption and good governance to all government departments. MACA also provides a forum for all government agencies to share ideas and experiences.

MACA also provides a forum for the private sector, especially Government Link Companies (GLC), to better understand policies and legislation pertaining to the prevention of corruption, enhancing integrity and good governance.

MACA is set to contribute to the emerging global awareness about the evils of corruption. In line with the vision of becoming an anti-corruption center of excellence and source of support, MACA will endeavor to acquire international co-operation towards formulating competent training programs.

Departments

MACA consists of 9 divisions: International Studies Center; Basic Training Center; Corporate Integrity Development Center; Administration and Management; Planning, Research And Corporate Center; School of Investigation; School of Intelligence; School of Law & Prosecution; and School of Corruption Prevention & Management.

Courses

MACA offers courses in various fields to equip the learners with the right attitude, skills and knowledge to effectively combat corruption, such as investigation, prosecution, intelligence, corruption prevention, financial management, security, corporate integrity management, leadership, training for trainers and information technology.

Notably, in collaboration with local universities, MACA has designed effective training modules in the field of investigation that includes forensic accounting, forensic engineering and computer forensics.

MACA's 3-month basic training course is intended for new MACC recruits to build skills and knowledge in the fields of investigation, intelligence, law and prosecution.

For international participants, MACA offers courses in English, including Executive/Senior Executive Certificate Courses for Strategic Management of Anti-Corruption Programme; course on Management of Code of Ethics; and workshop on Accountability and Integrity in Public Sector Organizations.

The academy offers Masters Program on Corruption Studies in association with the National University of Malaysia.

Facilities

The Academy consists of 3 blocks of 4-storied buildings with training facilities, including 10 lecture halls, 26 syndicate rooms, a hall, two computer labs with internet access, a library, a moot court, and a cafeteria.
